Mick And Keef And The Rest Of The Band

as you may know, a year or so ago the rolling stones played a few shows at new york city's beacon theater, one of which commemorated president bill clinton's 60th birthday. the concerts were also filmed by the legendary martin scorsese (the last waltz) who has just released the trailer for his rock-doc on the stones, "shine a light". click the link then click on the virtual ticket and the trailer will start playing. its worth your while.

fortunately for the stones, this documentary turns out slightly better than "gimme shelter" which chronicled the stones' experience at altamont.

it makes me think of that night in hershey when i saw the stones. it couldn't have been more perfect.

Happy Birthday Exile On Main Street

according to the rolling stones (like they would know) exile on main street was first released on may 12, 1972 (coincidentally that was the same month and year that europe '72 was recorded. there must have been some serious cosmic significance about music that was played that month and year across the pond). ANYWAY, exile on main street is considered one of the greatest albums in rock history, so i think it is just that it gets its own 35th anniversary line of merchandise such as a workshirt, a military cap, and a women's spaghetti strap tank top. i'm shocked that the rolling stones would commercialize their greatest achievement. shocked i tell you!

but, still, here's to exile on main street which is truly a rock and roll masterpiece.
